DanceArt

Here is a poster I created for street dance I took a photo of a particular brick wall, I choose this type of brick to create depth so it would blend with my typography using a tecnique in adobe photoshop.
The break dancer in the art work has an oil paint effect to create smooth movement.

BRIEF 3 POETRY IN MOTION

  Hello again,

The dictionary defines poetry as writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in a language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm. Poetry enables our society to express and reveal personal and universal aspects of the human experience. as such, poetry can evoke vivid images and Strong emotion making it the perfect content for expressive typographic experimentation.

In this exercise, I choose the theme song from Jim Morrison (The Doors), Riders on the storm, and just taught up an image which I could express through typography, firstly using an A4 sheet of paper and  pencil I sketched an Image of a horse posing in a sort of a trot stance, making sure that the main lines that would shape the horse, (tail, mane, eye area, hoofs, etc.) were correctly displayed.

On completion of sketch, I decided to work with adobe illustrator using the pen tool to outline my image, once completed I followed with the type on a path tool, by typing the first verse of the lyric experimenting with different font sizes and type, for the definition lines of the horse, the same method was used throughout the design, using separate sections of layers, at this point I could manipulate lines of type using effects like ark, warp, bend, skew, which changes the distortion of a path.

I decided to add a cross to the design using some of the above methods and here is my final design.

BRIEF 2 SELF PORTRAIT TYPOGRAPHY

FACE PORTRAIT

Here is a face portrait using typography, to display outlines and over all characteristics,
of a self portrait, this particular portrait was constructed from my blog photo, which was opened in photoshop, by duplicating the shot into a new layer and setting the opacity level to 20percent of the original photo I was able to trace lines of the face and neck area by using the pen tool, to create a work path were I could then use the type tool write on path selected, I followed through with this method, to trace all outline using random taught out text some of which reflects my personality.

The end result was to delete the original and keep my new layer to display the end type portrait.

BRIEF 1 SHAPING AN OBJECT

SHAPE TEXT by Paul Keegan

Hi and welcome to my blog site here I will be demonstrating some of my art work while with S.C.D college of Dun Loaghaire. Our first assignment is to use typography and form it into a shape, the exercise might seem an easy task when you think of it , but actually its takes a bit of practice to get it right,

The software I will be using is Adobe Illustrator, and the tools mostly used for this exercise is the pen tool, type on a path tool, plus the various selection tools available , as well as plenty of patience, the exercise took me approximately 1hour and fiftheen minutes to do.
